BUTY MARCH RELEASE



 

Rosé of the Stones,  Walla Walla Valley

Made with intention and artistry, this dry wine offers a rich and nuanced expression of rosé produced exclusively using syrah and grenache from select blocks of our own Rockgarden Estate. These blocks are harvested earlier, and cultivated specifically for this wine. In the winery, we build texture and richness into our rosé through lees stirring and other classic techniques. As a result, one of the first things you’ll note about this wine is its richness and compelling texture.

Merlot & Cabernet Franc,  Columbia Valley

All of the estate grown merlot and the majority of cabernet franc are grown in the silt-sands of Conner Lee Vineyard. The minority portion of cabernet franc is from the complex flood deposits of Champoux Vineyard. The two varietals are often evenly split, but the blend is vintage variable.  The oak profile is entirely Taransaud Chateau barrels, both new and used. Our merlot and cabernet franc wine is elegant, structured, rich and floral. Fifteen barrels produced.
 

Champoux Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon & Cabernet Franc,  Horse Heaven Hills

A powerful blend of two potent varietals, the cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc reach down into complex flood deposits at Champoux Vineyard. Dominated by cabernet sauvignon, the wine is aged in 100% new Taransaud Chateau cooperage, which allows its inherent earth and spice characteristics to shine. Four barrels produced.
 

Rediviva of the Stones,  Walla Walla Valley

This blend of syrah and cabernet sauvignon is grown in the ancestral riverbed of the Walla Walla River. Dominated by syrah, the exact blend with cabernet sauvignon reflects the vintage balance. It is aged entirely in French cooperage without new oak. Rediviva of the Stones is delicate, sensuous, and of the earth with lovely floral notes.
 

 

 

BUTY september RELEASE

 

Sémillon, Sauvignon & Muscadelle,  Columbia Valley

Sémillon dominates our classic white blend. The sand, silt-loam filled soils and cooler temperatures of Spring Creek Vineyard in the Yakima Valley nurture our sauvignon bringing bright acidity to the blend. Muscadelle from Lonesome Spring River Ranch is responsible for the florals in this verve-filled wine. A portion of the wine is lees aged in mature oak and the balance aged in a concrete tank. Forty barrels produced.
 

Conner Lee Vineyard Chardonnay,  Columbia Valley

Grown in silt-sand soil from 1989 plantings, our estate grown chardonnay is native yeast fermented, lees stirred with partial malolactic fermentation. It is aged in perfectly matched mature French cooperage, with only 5% new. Texturally our chardonnay is creamy and smooth with lovely acidity and richness. Twenty-four barrels produced.
 

Columbia Rediviva,  Horse Heaven Hills

Columbia Rediviva is our deluxe blend of cabernet sauvignon and syrah, dominated by cabernet sauvignon. Our Phinny Hill Vineyard estate grown property is home to these vines, which grow on a warm site in ancient Columbia River soils. It is the uphill neighbor of Champoux Vineyard. Aged for two years in French Chateau barrels. It is bottled aged for another year before it’s released at 3 years old. This is a muscular wine counterbalanced with violets and sweet fruit. Twenty-four barrels produced.
 

 

 

 The BEAST Portfolio

 release of the beast on halloween & april fool’s

 
BEAST is the rare alter ego of Buty. Everyone who dates or marries a ‘Buty’ naturally contends with this counterpart nickname. BEAST allows us spontaneity and exploration, and most releases are one of a kind. Every year we release the BEAST at Halloween, and some years we unleash an April Fool’s BEAST.

With BEAST we present new varietals, new vineyards, or showcase an intriguing wine outside of the Buty portfolio. Historic BEASTs include: Rosé of the Stones, Minnick Hills Vineyard Cinsault, an edgy stainless Conner Lee Vineyard Chardonnay, Cailloux Vineyard Cabernet of the Stones and Conner Lee Vineyard Malbec. In the spring of 2010, we released the second generation of BEAST: Wildebeest, Hartebeest and Sphinx. These three BEASTs may be found in fine restaurants and wine shops in our national markets, and by calling or emailing the winery speakeasy style.
